Appellate Legal Invoices Explanation & Breakdown

To maintain transparency, we are sharing the current appellate invoices from Michael Ufferman Law Firm, P.A., which represent three separate components of Wade’s appeal before the Florida Supreme Court.

These invoices are separate because they cover different contractual and procedural stages of the appellate process, not because of duplicate billing.

Invoice 1 – Appellate Representation Contract (Primary Fee)

Invoice Date: August 13, 2024
Balance Remaining: $21,280.30

This invoice reflects the original appellate representation agreement that was signed in August 2024. The date on the invoice corresponds to when the contract was executed, and billing was established.

Under this agreement:

  • The total flat appellate fee was $150,000

  • This covered preparation and filing of the Initial Brief and Reply Brief

  • Payments were structured over time and have been made consistently since the contract was signed

  • The remaining balance represents the portion still outstanding under that original agreement

Although the invoice carries an August 2024 date, appellate work and payments have continued consistently through 2025 and into 2026. The balance shown represents the current remaining amount on that active contract.

The invoice date has not been updated or reissued because it is tied to the original agreement, which remains in effect until the contract is fully satisfied.

Invoice 2 – Appellate Expenses (Costs Separate from Fees)

Invoice Date: July 21, 2025
Total: $462.56

This invoice is not attorney fees. It reflects out-of-pocket case-related expenses, billed separately, including:

  • Legal research database access (Westlaw)

  • Long-distance communication charges

  • Travel and related costs for a legal visit

These costs are standard in appellate litigation and are separate from the flat legal fee agreement

How Payments Are Applied

When payments are made, they are applied from oldest to newest invoices, consistent with standard legal billing practices. A consolidated payment screen reflects all outstanding balances at once for convenience, but each invoice remains separate and distinct.

Payment Reference Instructions

When submitting a payment through the law firm’s online payment link, please include Wade’s name in the reference/memo field so the payment is properly applied.

Use one of the following:

  • Wade Steven Wilson

  • Wade Wilson

Including his name ensures the payment is correctly credited to his appellate account.
