Wade Update: August 2026 Disciplinary Reports

We recently received copies of Wade’s disciplinary reports through a public records request. On August 21, several reports were written following a search of his cell.

  • Disobeying an Order: According to the report, an officer conducting the search stated that Wade’s cell was not being kept according to housing unit rules regarding how his personal property was supposed to be stored.

  • Damage to State-Issued Property: During the same cell search, officers reported finding several state-issued items with burn holes. Wade pled guilty to this violation and, along with the disciplinary sanction, was ordered to pay restitution for the damaged property.

  • Possession of an Unauthorized Substance: An illegal substance was reported as being found during the same cell search.

  • Refusing Substance-Abuse Testing: Because of what was reportedly found during the search, officers stated there was cause for mandatory substance-abuse testing, which Wade refused. Wade denied there being any substance in his cell.

Wade received 60 days of disciplinary confinement, with his current end date listed as October 19, 2026.

Although Wade physically remains in the same cell whether he is on disciplinary status or not, the restrictions while in disciplinary confinement are much greater. He currently does not have access to books, phone calls, or commissary. Those privileges are expected to return once his disciplinary confinement is completed.

Over the past two years on Death Row, Wade has spent a significant amount of time going in and out of confinement. Add to that the isolation, prison politics, the issues he has reported with staff, the mental and emotional toll of his environment, and simply existing under that level of restriction every single day. That would take a toll on anyone.

We also think it is important to remember where disciplinary reports come from. They are written by prison staff, including staff members Wade has had ongoing issues with for quite some time. That does not mean we are saying every report is false, and we are not pretending Wade does not have his own struggles, good days and bad days. He does.

But we also are not going to look at a disciplinary report and automatically treat every word written in it as the complete story without considering the environment he is living in and the history surrounding it.

Wade is a human being living in an environment most of us will never fully understand.

Put yourself in his shoes for a moment. How long could you live with the isolation, restrictions, constant scrutiny, lack of privacy, and pressure before it started taking a toll on you too?

Our support for Wade has never depended on him being perfect.

He is a person. A person who struggles. A person who has difficult days. But also a person who continues to persevere, pick himself back up, and somehow make it through some incredibly dark days.

We will NEVER give up on him, and we will stand beside him through every good day, every bad day, every setback, every struggle, and every dark moment he has to fight his way through.
